I know lots of people store their fluff all sorts of different ways. I thought I'd share how we store our fluff (and accessories!) for those of you still looking for ideas.
The majority of our fluff would be kept in media storage bins that we got at Target (back-to-school section... I think they were intended for CDs and DVDs, really). These are kept under the changing table.
Top row are all now all pocket diapers in the left 3 baskets, and wipes and liners in the fourth. When I took this picture, however, the first two baskets were pockets, the third basket was covers with some flats, and then wipes.
The bottom row (in this picture) are prefolds, flats, then two bins of night time diapers. (*currently I have extra inserts with swim diapers and trainers on top of them in one basket, flats and prefolds with covers on top in another basket, and two row of night time diapers*)
Our wet bags, hanging pails and pail liners we keep in the "diaper holder" that came with the bedding set we purchased. It's snapped onto the end of the changing table.
For all of our accessories, we have a stand-up organizer (next to his diaper pail). On top you can see some Nursery Wipes (Earth's Best), some CJ's BugBanisher (which I would spray on before we head outside in the summer time), and a travel-size pack of Nursery Wipes.
In the top drawer we keep an array of baby items.... extra creams, fingernail clippers, snappis and boingos, etc.
The middle drawer is full of brand new diapers for Squiggle. I am keeping them separate from the others right now since I want to prep them at the same time. The used ones I purchased for Squiggle I have in a bag waiting to be stripped/washed before first use. I'll probably do this all in May when we get closer to the time we'll need them.
For Bobble's "childcare diapers" (which I keep separate
from the rest so we have enough for when he's at childcare), we keep
them in the bottom drawer.
Speaking of Squiggle's diapers, I have no idea what I'm going to do for newborn diaper storage! We'll want something with easier access than where they are currently, so I guess I'll have to move some of the OS pockets over to the drawer or something.

All About (Reusable) Liners
I'm not talking about disposable liners, as I've never used those before. I'm talking about FLEECE. Bobble had a lot of issues with diaper rash early on, and the last thing I wanted to do was stop using fluff. It was suggested to me, since he had to be on prescription cream (totally not cloth diaper safe!) to switch to disposables. Nope, not doing it. There had to be a way around this!
Then I was probably given the best advice ever. Someone online suggested using liners. I looked up the different liners and about hit the roof. They get pricy! They told me to go to the local fabric store and look for anti-pill fleece. I found some and it was about $8 a yard (NOT on sale). That's doable. I bought one yard, came home, washed it, and started cutting.
Okay, so I'm not the most perfect, crafty person in the world... and I probably SHOULD have used something as a guide instead of just cutting aimlessly. As an end result, my liners are all sorts of different sizes (and shapes!), but you know what? THEY ALL WORK!
As you can see, none of these 3 are the exact same. The one on the far right I cut to match the shape of our FuzziBunz OS just to see if it worked better than the ones cut in rectangles. It really didn't make a difference, though. Also, you can tell the one on the far left has been used MUCH more than the others from colour, but it still works great!
It works great! They are fleece, so the urine goes through them and still gets absorbed by the diaper, but the creams stay on the liner. We've NEVER had a leak issue from using Rx creams with our fluff because the liners just work so darn well! Best $8 I ever spent!
All you have to do is lay them between baby and the diaper. When you change baby, have a separate wet bag so you can store the liners (and cloth wipes if you're using those while using non-CD safe cream), and just wash those on hot with the towels or something so you don't transfer residues to the diapers while you're getting them clean. Speaking of residue, I noticed when using the creams and when Bobble pooped, the run off from spraying the wipes with the diaper sprayer was very sudsy. Even though it didn't look like there was much cream on the liner, there was. This confirmed that I should store wipes and liners used with these creams separate.... and also to spray them out if I get the chance!
I've also used them when I knew Bobble was expecting a poopy diaper while we are traveling. Most of the poop will be on the liner (depending on how well you cut them to fit the shape of the diaper), and you won't have to worry about staining ... or the fact you might not have a diaper sprayer where you're traveling to!
The other reason we use these liners? Bobble is so sensitive to wetness that he breaks out if he has a prefold or flat against him and he wets it. If we put a liner in there, he doesn't break out. Easy solution to help keep him dry and rash-free!
Bobble also likes to sneak over to the liners and use them like tissues because they are soft. Unfortunately, that generally means I end up with them all around the house because he touches his nose, drops it. Grabs another one (or a wipe), touches his nose, drops it wherever he happens to be, etc.
I've been using these liners for about a year and a half, and they are still going strong! I didn't even cut the entire yard of fabric! I ended up with about 20 - 25 cut liners, and still the amount of fabric (shown below) left over!
Just look at all that left over fabric! Plenty of liners can still be made out of the left overs from that ONE yard of fabric!
Also, if you're curious, you don't need to sew at all for this. No need to sew the edges or anything, it won't unravel or fall apart. Just wash, cut, use. Yay!

Love Chili? Try this recipe!
A couple of months back, I saw a post from Daily Mothering titled The Best Chili Recipe Ever. Okay, so I admit, whenever I see "the best" or "world's greatest" before something, I am generally skeptical. I do love chili, however, and my husband.... well, he doesn't. Yep, you read that right. He doesn't love chili. This, of course, led me in a pursuit to find a chili he would like so that I could finally get chili again! (Hey, no point in making chili for only one person!)
I pinned the recipe to my interest account as soon as I saw it (find it on Thoughts Of Fluff's Pinterest board here), and finally the day came where he had no idea what to do for dinner, but we had thawed ground beef. Jackpot! I sent him the link to the recipe, and he was confused. It called for... green beans? Wait, green beans? In CHILI? Yep. Zucchini too! This is part of what intrigued me so much!
We made the recipe two different ways, and I wanted to share both with you. I went back to the original post to make sure I could credit the correct source, but found this appeared to be an original recipe! Of course, I made certain to get permission from Daily Mothering before I posted their recipe!
Here's the (original) recipe:
While we intended on following this recipe exactly... it didn't work out so well. We found out (a bit late) that we didn't have any ground red cayenne pepper.... so we used the exact same amount of crushed red pepper instead. We also didn't top with crackers simply because we thought the greek yogurt (plain... we always use plain greek yogurt in lieu of sour cream... healthier and tastes the same!), cheese, and smashed avocado was plenty! (Yes, smashed... we opted for that over diced. Again, our preference.)
The chili was amazing. Perfectly spiced... flavourful.... just fantastic! I loved it so much that I decided we should make it again for a potluck we were going to host.... but I wanted to make a few changes.
The biggest surprise of the second batch was the spice (heat). It was SPICY! The first batch was perfect for me because it wasn't too spicy, and I'm pretty sensitive to spice (heat). I kept telling people at the potluck that it wasn't a spicy chili, and they kept commenting it did have a kick to it. Apparently, crushed cayenne pepper is a lot spicier than crushed red pepper in the same quantity. If we make this again with cayenne pepper, I will add 1/2 the amount that it calls for... but the crushed red pepper worked great, too.
I still devoured that spicier batch of chili... I just made sure to plop a LOT of plain greek yogurt on top to help neutralize the heat. It worked great. The only thing I regret is not having corn bread either time. It would have been perfect!!!
We had enough left over from our initial batch (made in December) that we froze a big gallon bag of the chili. I thawed it a week or two ago so we could have a quick meal (well, it really fed us more than 1 meal, but still!), and I was pleasantly surprised and how well the chili froze. It tasted great, still!
Check out Daily Mothering's original post The Best Chili Recipe In The World for a few tips and a link to her cornbread recipe (check the additional notes at the bottom!). I didn't think to snap a picture either of the times the chili was fresh, so the picture is from my lunch at work, and from the batch that had been frozen and then thawed. Not the best photo, but still looks yummy!

- 2 lbs Lean Ground Beef
- 1 large can (29 oz) and 1 small can (15 oz) Tomato Sauce
- 1 can (15 oz) Diced Tomatoes
- 2 cans (15 oz) Kidney Beans, drained
- 1 can (15 oz) Green Beans, drained
- 1 can (15 oz) Corn, drained
- 1 large Green Bell Pepper, chopped
- 1 medium Zucchini, chopped
- 3 Garlic Cloves, minced
- 1 medium Onion, chopped
- 2 tbsp Vegetable, Olive or Coconut Oil
Seasoning:
- 2 tbsp Flour
- 1 tbsp Chili Powder
- 2 tsp Brown Sugar
- 2 tsp White Sugar
- 2 tsp Onion Powder
- 1 tbsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 tsp Dried Oregano
- 1 tsp Dried Basil
- 1/2 tsp Ground Black Pepper
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 3 tsp Ground Red Cayenne Pepper
- 2 tsp Ground Cumin
Toppings:
- Crushed Saltines or Oyster Crackers
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- Sour Cream
- Avocado, peeled and diced
Instructions:
In a large pot, cook Ground Beef until lightly browned, then drain. Meanwhile, in a separate pan, combine Green Bell Pepper, Zucchini, Garlic Clove, Onion, and Oil and saute on medium for a few minutes until just starting to brown. Add sauteed vegetables to the Ground Beef in the large pot. Add Kidney Beans, Green Beans, Diced Tomatoes, Corn, and Tomato Sauce and stir until blended. In a small bowl, combine seasonings. Pour seasonings mix into the large pot and stir everything together. Bring to a boil on High, then reduce to a simmer on Low for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally. Serve hot with desired toppings.

The chili was amazing. Perfectly spiced... flavourful.... just fantastic! I loved it so much that I decided we should make it again for a potluck we were going to host.... but I wanted to make a few changes.
- Change #1: double the green beans (they seriously rock in this!)
- Change #2: actually use cayenne pepper like the recipe calls for instead of ground red pepper
- Change #3: add a can of black beans in addition to everything else

Earth's Best NEW Sleepytime Lotion
Many parents have a routine for bedtime and/or naptime with their little ones. Some do a light baby massage with lotion just before bed to help soothe/calm their child, while some parents do this right after bath time. We never got into a routine that involved massage when Bobble was little, but we have started a little lotion massage lately after receiving the NEW Sleepytime Lotion (Chamomile) from Earth's Best.
The Chamomile Sleepytime Lotion is lightly scented with chamomile to help with calming your child, and it's a very pleasant scent too. I've got a very sensitive... well, everything! Needless to say, I have trouble with scented items that aren't naturally scented or if they are overpowering. This lotion has the perfect amount of fragrance that even my nose enjoys it!
The lotion is made with oats to help nourish dry skin, and also has:
Hard not to be happy about that! Bobble has been asking for this lotion, too. He enjoys the quiet time we spend together rubbing the lotion on him, and it does seem to help him quiet down in the evening (which can really be a challenge!).
If you are interested in purchasing this new Sleepytime Lotion from Earth's Best, you can look for it locally using the store locator on the Earth's Best page. You can also order it directly from the Earth's Best online store for $11.79 for a 16 oz. bottle.

Stuffing a Pocket Diaper
I've been asked all sorts of things about cloth diapers. Everything from washing tips to stuffing and storage. I decided to start doing a little Cloth Diaper 101 for you. If you already know this stuff, great! Feel free to leave your comments and suggestions as well! If there is anything you'd like to see in the future (video or post), leave me a comment and let me know!
Here's my first video for you.... Stuffing a Pocket Diaper! I apologize for the lighting, but it was tricky trying to film this without having a tripod or another set of hands! I guess I'll have to figure something fancier out for the future. :)
The lighting will look better if you make the video full-screen.
