My children are huge fans of meat in finger food form. Fish sticks, sausage links, chicken strips, chicken nuggets... yeah. All of the above. We dislike the processed foods aspect, and we buy the organic nuggets when we do buy them. Still those are expensive. We make chicken strips from scratch, but we had never made nuggets from scratch.
MOMables changed that with their chicken nugget recipe. The recipe can be gluten free if you use GF breadcrumbs, too. We didn't have ground chicken, but we did have chicken breast that needed to be used so we used our blender and ground it ourselves.
My husband was the chef for nuggets, so I had the opportunity to take more pictures of the process since I didn't have to worry about potentially burning food (though he did fry some of the nuggets a bit long).
You can bake the nuggets or fry them. We opted to fry them, then made popcorn with oil later that night.
Sadly, hubby only made enough for the kids (...I may have stolen a couple nibbles), and froze the rest of them. He said that it was super easy to do and much cheaper than buying them in the store, so we will do this from now on.
The thing that took the longest was cleaning our immersion blender after using it on the chicken breasts. We don't have a grinder, a food processor or even a standard blender. That aside it was easy-peasy.
No action shots of the kids eating them, as they were devoured way too quickly. I actually had to keep trying to get a shot of the inside of the nugget because Bobble kept swiping them as I was focusing the camera! They also tasted soooooo much better than the organic nuggets we had been buying.

Donuts From Scratch
I tried my hand at a recipe I'd been eying for a while from Mary Quite Contrary Bakes. It was for strawberry donuts. Yum! I changed a few things up due to ingredients on hand, but it was still really tasty. They were super easy to make, and I liked knowing what was in them.
My whole family loved them, but I loved them enough to accidentally eat enough to get a stomach ache. Twice. I suppose that is part of the curse of making mini-donuts, eh? Mini are always easier to eat!
Strawberry Glazed Doughnuts (From: Mary Quite Contrary Bakes)
Servings: 10 doughnuts (or roughly 24 mini donuts)
Ingredients:
Doughnuts:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp melted butter
- 10 medium to large strawberries (between 1/2 and 3/4 cup depending on size), pureed with 2 tsp seedless strawberry jam
- 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
Glaze:
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cups cold milk
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Grease a 6-doughnut pan with baking spray.
To make doughnuts combine dry ingredients in a large bowl and whisk
together.
Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add in
milk, egg, butter, and maple syrup.
Stir until well combined.
Stir in
strawberry mixture, starting with 1/2 of it and adding more only if
needed. Batter should be wet, but not runny.
Put dough into a pastry
bag or plastic bag and snip approx 1-inch off end.
Pipe batter into
each well, reserving extra batter.
Bake for 7-9 minutes until doughnuts
spring back when touched.
Let cool five minutes and turn onto a
cooling rack to cool completely.
Spray pan again and continue with the
rest of batter until all doughnuts have been made.
While doughnuts are
cooling make glaze.
To make glaze, stir all ingredients together until
smooth.
When doughnuts are cooled dip each into glaze (twice if you
want to be naughty about it) and place back on cooling rack to let glaze
set.
When glaze has set enjoy!
I had a perfect consistency after adding 1/2 a cup of strawberry puree, so I didn't add any more. I also didn't add any strawberry jam. My donuts did not taste like strawberry, though they were a light pink. I'm not complaining, they were delicious! If you want that strawberry flavour, add more than 1/2c.
Pictures of the process!

They ended up being fully dipped in the glaze mixture 1x each, and they were plenty sweet enough for us! I ended up with a bunch of glaze left over, actually. I had to throw it away. I would definitely cut the recipe in half for the glaze next time.
These were super easy to make, and super easy to eat. I had never made donuts before in my life, so you can see that they aren't perfect but still can tell they are donuts. I call that a win. Next time I'll fill the pan a little less full so there is more of a pronounced hole. I assume that will actually give me about 30-36 mini donuts instead of the 24 I got.

MOMables Recipe Review (3)
On to the next MOMables recipe review! This one is one of the free recipes, so it's included in the post! For more information on what MOMables are, check out my info post and giveaway HERE!
The next recipe I wanted to try out was the Easy Strawberry Cheesecake Bites recipe. I have fresh strawberries on hand, and while my little one loves to eat them by themselves, I thought it would be fun to change it up. I made this as a dessert to accompany the MOMables recipe I made for dinner last night, but that review will come later.
I don't have a food processor, but that's okay... my KitchenAid mixer will do just fine for some cream cheese and powdered sugar! I didn't buy whipped cream cheese, but I just put on the whisk attachment and let it whip the cream cheese while I cleaned the berries off and patted them dry.
Another super easy recipe in terms of prep. The longest part of this recipe? Crushing graham crackers and washing/cutting ends off strawberries. I opted to do that during nap time, so when Bobble woke up he could help me finish the snack... but Bobble skipped his nap. Instead, I just did it on my own while the munchkins were playing with hubby. Speaking of the munchkins, this is a great recipe to involve your (older) toddlers with or young children with. They will enjoy dipping strawberries or rolling them in crumbs.
I made both strawberry and blackberry cheesecake bites. They were delicious!!! Again, cell phone pictures and poor lighting mean the photos are not top quality, but the taste sure was! I actually ended up having to go and make more with the rest of the cleaned berries!
This is a delicious recipe and a great way to get kids to eat more fruit (if you struggle with that). You could also add this to a lunch with a little container of dip and graham cracker crumbs next to the fresh cut fruit and let them dip their own fruit however they please. (Granted, that would work best for older children.) I think this would be great to do with giant blueberries, too. Mmm, yum!
Disclosure: These opinions are my own and may differ from those of your own.

I'd love to make this with blueberries, though it would be very hard to dip those. I think, if I did blueberries, I would probably leave the graham crackers whole, spread the cream cheese mixture on the cracker, and just stick blueberries on top. Mmm. Yummy!

Funbites Review & Giveaway
Do you have a child that gets sick of eating, sometimes? Do they play with
their food or just get bored with it? Well, ideally, children would know that
food is for eating and that's that... but that's not reality with young
toddlers, that's for sure! That's where Funbites come into play! Funbites
quickly cut food into fun shapes for your little one to enjoy. Whether you're
wanting to make eating more fun, you're trying to make bite-size pieces for
your munchkin, or you simply are making appetizers for a party and want them
cut quickly and evenly, Funbites
is your answer!
Bobble isn't without his quirks, and eating quirks are near the top of the
list! It got to the point where we would call things that looked remotely like
cake "cakes" (corn bread, for example, was 'corn cake'), and anything
long and skinny would be called "fries" (chicken strips & fish
sticks... both 'fries'!). It's not that he didn't like the foods, but he didn't
want to take the first bite unless we referenced something he loved first. Fish
fillets/sticks are one of his favorites, but if they aren't "fish
fries", you might not succeed in getting even one bite into his mouth.
Thankfully, Funbites sent us a sample of their product for review. Funbites was started due to eating
quirks, too! We got the squares, though there are more 'fun'
shapes to get if you prefer. The funbites come in two parts that fit together
nicely. One part you push down onto the food to make a quick and easy cut (yay,
shapes!), and the other part it simply "holds" the cutting part.
The plastic is easy to clean, a durable. We tested it out on various
foods... even some that shouldn't have been tested on. If you have a big slice
of melon (flat slice, mind you), you can quickly cut a bunch of cubes (or
whatever shape you picked) to serve multiple people, or just make a nice little
bite-size snack that is easy for your little one to pick up! You can cut
sandwiches just as easily!
Remember how I said that we tested it on some food that shouldn't be tested
on? My husband decided to try it on a sloppy joe. Yes, a sloppy joe. Nothing
about that idea sounds remotely smart to me. This product is designed to cut,
not contain a gigantic blob of sloppy joe! Surprisingly, it worked. Yes, lots
of the meat came out of the sandwich, but it made bite-sized cube-ish pieces
(honestly, you can't expect clean-cut cubes in a sloppy joe!) that my husband
then squished a bit to put them together. It made it a million times easier for
Bobble to eat! Still messy, but not as bad! Yay!
While Funbites aren't a necessity, they sure do make bite-size cutting
really easy! If you have some of the more fun shapes (like the hearts) then you
can cut cute / fun shapes in the blink of an eye! Definitely recommended if you
like to make appetizers, have a picky/bored eater, or like to make cute packed
lunches for your little one!
You can buy Funbites for $12.99 individually (buy more than 1 and save!) from the Funbites.com store.

Earth's Best to the rescue!
Many times I find myself hungry while we are going somewhere. This happens to adults a lot (especially us very pregnant adults!), and undoubtedly happens to our munchkins too. If you're like me, you aren't going to buy them fast food (or you reeeeeeeeeeally don't want to!), but you want them to be able to eat something until you get to your destination. Enter Earth’s Best! They have you covered with their Sunny Days Snack Bars
that don’t have any of that bad stuff (artificial flavours,
colourings, preservatives, high-fructose corn syrup), but have plenty of good stuff like
vitamins, organic
ingredients, and a wholesome cereal crust.
I’m sure many of us have tried something similar to these
snack bars… a cereal crust and a fruit-filled center. These snacks, part of the
Sesame Street Healthy Habits for Life snacks, are the perfect snack for a lunch
box, for on the road, or just for a little treat at home! With delicious
flavours like Apple and Strawberry to pick from, you can be assured that your
child will get the deliciousness of real
fruits in this snack without having to worry about washing the fruit off,
having it spoil, or being out of season! Each box has 8 yummy, individually
wrapped bars, so you have plenty for snacks throughout the week, and even one
to sneak for yourself!
Bobble is a huge fan of these cereal bars now. (He didn't used to be because he had an issue with a "sticky" center.) I keep a couple of each flavour in our diaper bag or car, and we have some on hand at home for those times when he just can't wait to eat what is being cooked and needs something now! Any little one that likes either of those flavours (and isn’t opposed to
‘sticky’ fillings!) will love these yummy little bars! Best of all, they are
the perfect size for little ones to enjoy! The only thing that could make these better is if they had more flavours (like blueberry... yum!).
You can find Sunny Days Snack
Bars, along with many other Earth’s Best products, online at the Earth’s Best Store, from Amazon.com,
many other online retailers, or you can use the Earth’s Best
Store Locator to find a retailer near you!

Earth's Best NEW Yogurt Puffs Giveaway!
Are you excited to try out this new Earth's Best product? You should be... they are delicious! Good luck!
a Rafflecopter giveaway

Earth's Best Yogurt Puffs
If you're like me, you try to find healthy snacks for your little ones to munch on. I don't like Bobble having junk food, and even when he does have "junk food", it's still a healthier version of it. (Like cake would either be made from scratch by me, or I'd buy the organic box mix of stuff.)
It's not always easy to find snacks that you approve of and your kids enjoy, but with Earth's Best at hand, you're sure to find something your kids will like and you will approve of.
Earth's Best just released their newest snack..... Earth's Best Organic Yogurt Puffs! We've had "puffs" in this house before, and I knew Bobble enjoyed them. Yogurt Puffs, however, are different. They are cereal puffs that have yogurt. Bobble loves yogurt. I hate yogurt. I love that it's good for you, but man do I ever hate that taste! Of course, wanting to accurately review the product, I tried them out. I was actually pleasantly surprised at the taste!
We were sent both Peach and Blueberry flavours to try out, and Bobble started devouring both. They smelled so good that I had to try them whether I had decided to initially or not. They really were good! They were also not very sweet, and I really liked the fact they were flavourful without a bunch of sugar. (Less than 1g sugar per serving!)
So what's not to love about these puffs? Maybe the fact they aren't never-ending containers, but that's about it! They have 6 B vitamins, Vitamins A & E, Zinc, Iron, Calcium, have no artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives... oh yeah, and they're ORGANIC. Even the packaging is an awesome non-BPA packaging.
I'll admit, I kept snacking on them after tasting them initially. Bobble actually pulled them away from me! These are definitely a great snack to have on hand, so keep an eye out for them at the store! You can also enter to win one HERE!

Earth's Best Pouched Products (Review)
Many of you are familiar with store-bought baby food being available in both pouch and jar form now. Earth's Best sent me a variety of their pouches to review, and I'm happy to say these have been fantastic for us!
If you remember correctly, I am a big fan of baby-led weaning, and didn't want to be feeding my child purees. With Bobble pushing 2 years old, however, I've had to get more creative. Grabbing an Earth's Best Greek Yogurt pouch and chasing him down to squeeze some in his mouth before he runs over to his cars or blocks has become fairly common. He loves yogurt, and he loves eating... but he loves playing more. While he knows how to feed himself, sitting him in a chair to eat is more likely to find me cleaning yogurt out of his hair, the curtains, and the carpet than it making it into his belly if he is in that playful mood. Thank goodness for these pouches!
While we get Bobble to eat table food most of the time, sometimes it's simply a losing battle. Trucks are more interesting. His balls are more interesting. Heck, the cats are more interesting! When it's time to eat and he simply isn't going to sit still, at least I know if I grab an Earth's Best Organic pouch that he'll be getting healthy food that is free of all those nasty things (like antibiotics, pesticides, hormones, GMOs, etc.) and full of everything this super busy toddler needs (wholesome grains, organic fruits and veggies, plentiful vitamins and minerals).
Sure, ideally my son would sit at the table, skillfully use his utensils, wipe up his own messes, and always eat every last bit on his plate. Of course, in reality, I can't give him a plate without it being thrown at some point, so I pick my battles. Finding food that he thinks tastes great and I know is great for him doesn't have to be a battle with Earth's Best. Between all the pouches they offer, I have everything from simple fruits, yogurt smoothies, and simple veggies, to delicious combinations of flavours like Pumpkin Cranberry Apple and Apple Peach Oatmeal... and it's all at my finger tips.
I keep two pouches in my diaper bag for those times I'm on the run and need to feed Bobble while we're out and about, and there are always a few at home for those times he just is too busy to sit down and eat.
Available in 1st Foods Pouches (for babies 4 months and older), 2nd Foods Pouches (6 months and older), and 3rd Foods pouches (9 months and older), and their Just For Toddlers pouches (Sesame Street Fruit Yogurt Smoothies), there is something for every stage your baby will be in!

Healthier Lunches In a Snap!
Getting our children to eat healthy is not as easy as it sounds. Fastfood chains advertise everywhere imaginable, school lunches are not that good for them (nor are they usually good tasting, either), and pre-packaged lunches are stuffed full of preservatives (among other things). Many places also are implementing a "no peanutbutter" policy due to the high number of allergies people have. Even then, pb&j gets old after a while, doesn't it?
Wait, you haven't heard of MOMables yet? Let's take a peek at a few things from their About MOMables page to get a bit more insight!
So how does this MOMables meal plan solution work? Each week a new file is available for you, full of different meal solutions for that week. You have enough 'menus' for the school week. There are separate sections for "cook ahead items", some kitchen notes, the recipe/directions for each menu item (along with awesome pictures of the meals ready to go), and even a shopping list to make it easy on you. One of my favorite things was the dinner recipes that would get sent out (I saw those in the summer) that double for an easy leftovers lunch! There are also little snack/dessert ideas to accompany the lunch menu, though they (thankfully) aren't always something really sweet. (I'm not a huge fan of high-sugar items).
Let's take a look at an example of one of the recipes! (Nothing like a sneak-peek, eh?)
BBQ Chicken Salad Sandwiches Lunch!
So the above is one of the lunch recipes for BBQ Chicken Salad Sandwiches. There are also MOM tips that are really helpful/handy with these recipes (as you can see below the directions).
And below, you can see a fully assembled lunch, ready to go!
Don't forget the shopping list!!!
What could be any easier? Well, aside from them coming to your house and making it, too! Healthy, fast lunches for your children, tips to help accommodate pickier eaters, and a shopping list ready to go.
You have the opportunity to win an awesome THREE-MONTH subscription to MOMables here on my blog! If you are wondering if it's really worth it, just remember that the subscription fee evens out to be about 25 cents per day. That's not very much! Still wondering if this is really something you could us? Why not check out the sample menu available on their page? You can also get access to one of their weekly menus for free by signing up HERE. There is a solution! MOMables!
Wait, you haven't heard of MOMables yet? Let's take a peek at a few things from their About MOMables page to get a bit more insight!
What is MOMables™?Yes, you read that correctly... fresh lunches in TEN minutes or less! What could be better than a homemade lunch that is healthy, fresh, the kids will eat, and will save you on average of $1-2 per day, per child. Oh, also the impact on the environment! You're eliminating all that garbage generated by pre-packaged lunches, too. MOMables fit great inside many types of lunchboxes such as the EcoLunches Boxes (see one of my reviews here for their sandwich box and ecodipper), the Laptop Lunches Bento Box, and more. These will eliminate your need for ANY disposable products in your little one's lunch, and you can find them in the MOMables store!
MOMables shows busy parents how to make fresh school lunches in 10 minutes or less.
MOMables = ˈmÉ‘m·Ã¡·[bles]. Mom made, simple and nutritious. We’ve worked with dozens of moms, a chef and a nutritionist to create healthy lunches kids will actually eat.
Every parent I know, wants to pack a wholesome school lunch for their kids, but packing them daily, and oftentimes year-round, can be time consuming and boring. As a mom of 3 kids myself, I know this process very well. I personally pack over 540 lunches in one school calendar year. Without a plan, I run out of ideas fast.

Earth's Best Organic Greek Yogurt Smoothies
Have you heard that Earth’s
Best has a new product out? Meet Earth’s Best Organic Greek Yogurt
Smoothies!
An Earth’s Best 2ndfood, these are made for children six months and older and are a blend of real organic fruit, delicious greek yogurt, and whey. They come in three
awesome flavours of Apple, Banana, and Cherry. They are packaged in the squeeze
pouches that many of their other snacks and foods are, so they are very
convenient to just grab-and-go! Best of all, they don’t have to be refrigerated
before opening like other yogurts do. This means you can slip one of these into your child's lunch box and not worry about it going bad before they get to eat!
Speaking of other yogurts, similar regular yogurt smoothies
will have 2 grams of protein, but these
smoothies, being made with Greek Yogurt, have 3 grams of protein! They also are
a fantastic source of calcium, and they provide your little one with at least
20% of the daily recommended value of Vitamins C and D per serving! This helps
build strong teeth and bones, and also helps support a healthy immune system.
If you haven’t tried greek yogurt yet, you definitely
should. We always use greek yogurt in my house – it’s better for you for
multiple reasons! Greek yogurt has more nutrients than regular yogurt,
containing nearly double the protein and having around half the sodium of
regular yogurts. Greek yogurt is also thicker and creamier than regular yogurt,
so it helps fill you up without eating too much.
Your whole family can use greek yogurts (not just in squeeze
pouches), as they are great for cooking and baking, too! Regular [plain]
flavoured greek yogurts can be used in lieu of sour cream in baking or just on
potatoes/tacos/anything you’d use sour cream on! Bobble is a huge fan of greek
yogurts, so that’s why I was even more thrilled to receive these Earth’s Best
Organic Greek Yogurt Smoothies.
All three of these flavours are a win for our little Bobble!
He loves any fruit flavour, and he loves
yogurt, so he loved these! Hard to go
wrong with it being an Earth’s
Best Organic product, too! This, of course, means that these new Earth’s
Best Organic Greek Yogurt Smoothies contain no artificial flavours, colours, or
preservatives, and they contain no Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs).
You can find these new Organic Greek Yogurt Smoothies at a
grocer near you that carries Earth’s Best products, or you can use the Earth’s Best
Store Locator to find a location near you! You can also order them online at
the Earth’s Best Store, from
Amazon.com, any other online retailers where you can buy Earth’s Best pouches!
Disclosure: The product
mentioned above was provided to me by Earth’s Best for review. This did not
influence my opinion of the product in any way. My opinions are my own and may
differ from those of your own.
