BumGenius Freetime Diaper Review from Thanks Mama!

My Bobble has all sorts of diapers, but when I was given the opportunity to review a BumGenius Freetime in Dazzle from Thanks Mama, I jumped on it! I only had one Freetime before that, and I didn't own anything in Dazzle. I was sent the awesome Dazzle colour in aplix (since I like to use my AIOs for child care) due to ease-of-use).

A bit of info about Thanksmama.com before I get into the review! One thing I like about the Freetime is the way it is designed. It's a bit different than some of the other AIOs in that the absorbent parts are not sewn all the way down, but rather only on one end. This allows for them to open up while washing and dry quicker.

If you didn't understand what I meant about them being sewn down only on one end, take a gander at this! Here is the Freetime all opened up!

Here's a close up of the seam along the front of side of the diaper while the diaper is still open (like in the above picture).

Here's my sleepy little Bobble getting ready to test out the absorbancy of the Freetime just before his nap!

I really like the fit of this diaper, especially along the legs. It doesn't leave room for potential leaking. I tried to get a decent picture of the fit near the legs, but Bobble, being his typical active self, didn't want to hold still! On the bright side, I got to find out how great the fit was with a very active toddler! No leaks!

As you can see, I did get a semi-decent shot eventually... but I had to hold his leg still to get it! The diaper is fairly trim compared to my BumGenius 4.0 diapers (which I double-stuff), and I don't have to worry about inserts causing it to potentially bulk a bit around the leg openings. There aren't any double-gussets with this diaper (and I LOVE double gussets!), but it held up to poop really well, too. The only thing I disliked about this diaper (in regards to poop) was that sometimes poop would get on the side of one of the "inserts" and that's hard to spray off! Well, it's hard to spray poop off of the edge of anything.... I'd much rather have a flat surface to clean than on the edge! Still, this diaper held up nicely and did a great job!

Rear-view:

I mentioned earlier I use a Freetime for child care (also aplix) because they are so easy to use. This is definitely a winner for grandparents, babysitters, or even daycares! Nothing more to do than just put on baby (well, assuming you leave the rise snaps snapped to how they fit your little one best!). If you need some more absorbancy, you can always place a doubler or insert below the sewn-on layers before you fold them over. Easy as pie!

  5. I don't have any BumGenius products but lots of moms seem to love them! This seems very convenient!

  6. I love how the bumgenius freetime opens up for ease of drying and faster drying time. That is a huge plus! I was worried about how dazzle would look on a boy if we have a boy, but now I'm super happy! Your little squish is adorable! Purple is my fave color...and hubby said if we have a boy, purple would be too girly. Now I can show him he's wrong!

  7. I think the best part of this diaper is how fast it will dry all opened up...and I like that it isn't too bulky!

  8. My favorite thing about BGs is the prints and colors! I would love to have some for my stash!

  9. I was thinking the exact same thing about poop in the edges when I looked at the inside! I do like the trimness and that there are two inserts, one connected on each end.

  10. I like the freetime but it's not my absolute favorite. When my kiddo's pooh gets on both flaps and they go different ways it can become a little tricky to spray!

  12. We love our Freetimes! They even air dry really quickly, which is great for helping them last longer and saving on electricity/gas!

  13. I haven't tried the Freetime and didn't really understand the difference. I liked the pictures you posted explaining how the inserts work. Thanks!

  14. I have yet to try an AIO (I mostly use pockets). I like that the inserts are only sewn on one side for faster drying. I don't like the aplix on the Cotton Babies diapers though (I have BG 4.0s and Flips in aplix). It is too scratchy and catches on everything. Maybe I'll try snaps.

  15. This looks awesome for my son. I am always trying to figure out a cloth diaper that fits. I haven't use AIO that often. I have more pockets, which also dry faster.

  16. I really want to try and AIO diaper, and this one looks good. I am not really crazy about their hook & loop though. I have some BG 4.0s and some Flips in h&l, and I find it scratchy and it sticks to everything, including me when I pick my daughter up. It is really hot here so she goes in just a diaper most of the time. I guess if I put clothes over the diaper it might not bother me!

  17. Oh goodness, I love that color!

We have a blue one that's the same as this, and I really love it. It doesn't look like it should be that absorbent, but it always holds in my kid's poops so well!

  18. I love how trim it looks. I have a few BumGenius that I bought used, now idea which ones they are, but they are a bit on the bulky side, and I only use them at bedtime!
I also really like the it "opens up"!

  19. I'd love to see how well the freetime holds up to my super heavy wetter. I had an elemental for a little while, but it just didn't stand up to even an hour of wear on my little guy.

  21. I like our Freetimes, but I don't like how it's an AiO with microfiber (eventually the MF will wear out). I worry about what I'll do with my microfiber once it stops being absorbent. Your little man is so cute!
