I'm just a mother of 2 that's trying to lead a greener life for me and my family. We live in the mid-western U.S. in a modest house (that needs a lot of work!) with our two cats and six chickens.
I was working full time outside the home until the end of May (2013) when I got laid off. I am now a SAHM as I pursue my master's degree.
Bobble is a very active preschooler that loves art, weather, and baking. He's an animal lover (as am I) that is obsessed with books and playing outside. I'm also convinced he's part frog, as he will play in the water as long as he can get away with it. (This, unfortunately, includes the water bowl for our cats.) Oh, and in case you're wondering, we weren't mean enough to actually name our son Bobble.
Squiggle is a very active toddler that loves books, princesses, dinosaurs, and food. My goodness, does she ever love food. She's a very independent little girl, but also a very clingy little girl all the same.
Both of our children learn/learned ASL.
My husband is a medical massage therapist. He's a great hands-on worker (no pun intended!) and can fix pretty much anything around the house. Oh, before you even ask, yes. He did cloth diaper our children. Yes, he's was also awesome at it.
I was always
"green" at heart, but I wasn't what you would call a "crunchy" mom.....
at least, it didn't start out that way! I knew I wanted to cloth diaper
our child(ren) because it was best for their skin (and our pocket
book!). It did turn into quite the obsession, however, and that was our
introduction to many more "green" things.
I wanted to
save the Earth when I was a child, and was always reading something
about recycling, what we can do to lessen pollution, etc. This, mind
you, was in elementary school. Yes, it goes back a long time. Combine
that love for "green" things with the cloth diaper obsession.... then
throw in cloth wipes. Yes, wipes. Simple little thing, but why not save
that much more money? That much less chemical against my baby's skin! I then learned about one product after
another, and before you know it: POOF! I'm this "crunchy" mama who keeps
striving to find more reusable products with no harmful things in them
(like BPA) to make our whole family greener (and healthier!).
The hope for this blog is simply for me to share about my journey through motherhood. Sharing the great moments, the frustrations, tricks, and tips. Also, since I'm striving to lead a greener lifestyle, there will also be mention of products I've found that can help with that, reviews, and even some giveaways.
While I originally started this blog simply for cloth diapering, it is transitioning into a general "lifestyle" blog. Look for kid-friendly products (green!), recipes (no artificial things!), and yes, cloth diaper stuff!
Please feel free to leave me a comment or ask any questions.... I love comments and read every one!

Hi, I am also a mother. I have an almost 3 year old little boy which whom I cloth diapered as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm also an ASL interpreter student and was reading your post about Bobbles well check up visit to the dr, the one where you tell the nurse he signs and she writes he "gestures". I was wondering if your son was Deaf or hard of hearing? Or have you simply adopted ASL as an early form of communication? It doesn't seem like he is Deaf/HOH from what I have read but I'm not 100% sure.I ask because I am doing research on Deaf children with hearing parents and came across your blog.
Thanks for sharing and I look forward to reading from you.
Janicke (Ju-neek)
Hi Janicke, and thanks for reading! Bobble is not HOH or Deaf, we just started signing at an early age. He hears really well... if it's something he wants to hear! *laughs* I don't know if I can really help you at all in your research since Bobble doesn't fall into either of those two categories (HOH/Deaf), but if I can, feel free to email me at the email address left at the bottom of this post :)
